If you’re new to networking events, it can sometimes seem daunting. We know the feeling when we attended our first networking events ourselves. Especially if you’re attending a networking event for the first time or are a small business and need to attend more of them to create awareness.

There are many types of networking events in most cities, use sites such as Eventbrite, LinkedIn and Facebook to find networking events in your area that are close to you or some that you like the sound. Attend the various types of networking events to find which style is best for you (you’ll only know what works for you once you’ve attended don’t just take someone’s word for it, because it might not have worked for them but could be great for you).

Once you’ve identified which ones you want to go to, remember you don’t want to go there and think you need to sell. You are going there to make people aware of you and your business. It’s the same concept when you do marketing, you don’t start selling straight away customers need to know about your brand and you need to gain their trust first! After that, they may consider buying from you.

So mine and Anks Patel main tips when attending networking events to go there and build relationships with people. Not everyone in that room is going to want your service or product, but if you build a good relationship when they do need your work you’ll be the first person they contact or they may recommend you to someone they know that’s in need of your service or product.

The second tip is to educate, you are the expert in your industry and by providing educational value about your service and product and how that can help the person you are speaking to, will go so much more in distance rather than just pushing for a sale.
