Be Specific with Your Hashtags
The first tip is to make sure your hashtags are specific; you don’t want to use some generic broad hashtag that will just get lost with all the rest. By using a detailed hashtag, it will help you to get into that niche and really build your following.
Of course, with that said there are times you may want to go for that broad generic hashtag, such as if you happen to be posting on your business account and you’re trying to reach a large target audience.
Remember that Hashtags Count Towards the Character Total
Another tip to remember is that when you are typing out that hashtag it will be part of your character count. That is important when posting to Twitter as you want to be sure you leave room for your complete hashtag and don’t end up cutting part of it off. If you need to break your post into two separate ones, make sure to include the hashtag where it makes sense.
There’s No Limit on the Amount of Hashtags You Use
While you may think you are restricted to just one hashtag, in reality there is no limit the amount you use. If you choose to make a posting with nothing other than hashtag after hashtag, well that’s entirely up to you.

Sometimes it can be hard to think of that witty hashtag that sums up your post, which is why it can be helpful to check out the trending hashtags. This is a trick that is helpful for businesses too, as it’s a great way to make sure you’re picking a hashtag that will get noticed and hopefully build your audience.

From a marketing standpoint, it can also prove helpful to use keywords in your hashtags. For example, if you are posting content that is meant for professional marketers out there, you can use hashtags such as #contentmarketing #seotechniques #socialmediaguru, and anything else that would catch the eye of professionals in the industry.
Be Creative and Don’t Be Afraid to Start Your Own Trends
